Kamala Harris expected to visit Park City area on Friday
Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit the Park City area on Friday to attend a fundraiser, another in a series of local stops by top-tier political figures in recent presidential-election cycles.
The event is set for a private residence in The Colony in the afternoon hours. There are likely to be intermittent traffic disruptions as the motorcade moves into and out of the area. The second gentleman, Douglas Emhoff, is expected to be in attendance as well.
Democratic and Republican presidential campaigns have seen Park City as a desirable location for fundraisers for years. There have been Park City or Snyderville Basin events featuring some of the biggest political names over the past 20-plus years.
The appearance by Harris will follow less than a year after President Biden raised money in The Colony. The Biden visit in August 2023 was one of the political highlights of the year, as the president spoke about topics like China, what he labeled an infrastructure decade in the U.S., and a desire to keep NATO together.
Political figures who have made stops in the Park City area have included George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney, Mike Pence and Rudy Giuliani.
Park City has long been one of the most reliably Democratic places in a heavily Republican state. Democratic presidential candidates have enjoyed some of their best results in the state in Summit County even as they are routed elsewhere in Utah.
